How do we advance in the Gospel personally? How do we advance the Gospel around the world? We read about Paul advancing the Gospel in his letter to the Philippians. Paul has recognized there's nothing more important in life than knowing Jesus and nothing more satisfying than sharing the love of Christ. Even though Paul was in jail Paul knew this wasn't stopping the spread of the Gospel. It only served to spread the Gospel and made many bold in their proclamation of the Good News of Jesus Christ.

We've been talking about the Philippians partnering with Paul in the proclamation of the Gospel. We see that theme through the book of the Philippians and we also see the advancing of the Gospel in our lives. "filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God." Philippians 1:11 Through the letter we see that God is at work in us to do his good pleasure.

I found the most popular Scripture passage downloaded in 2019 on the Bible app and it was Philippians 4:6-7 "do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.". In 2020 it was Isaiah 41:10 "fear not, for I am with you..."

Freedom is what we get when we couple forgiveness and life. Our sins have been forgiven and we've been made alive together with Christ and he has given his life to us. That's the gift we have been given. God's goal for us is freedom and that story is really foreshadowed for us in the story of the nation of Israel.
