Simple Gospel, Simply Grace - Part 19

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Fear keeps us wondering when the hammer of punishment will come from God. It also keeps us asking for forgiveness. Until we fully embrace the forgiveness provided at the cross of Jesus Christ, we will continue to beg and plead for God's mercy. The good news is that, in Christ, we have redemption and forgiveness of sins. The perfect love of God casts fear aside.

Every Step You Take

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

"To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." Colossians 1:27 Christ in the person of the Holy Spirit is living in each believer. This is a monumental promise of hope. Hebrews tells us: "he will never leave us or forsake us."

  • Why are Christians told to only go to Christian counselors?

He Keeps us Blameless

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

This is a special day - Veteran's Day - we pause to honor those who have served and preserved the freedom we have. It's a privilege to be a U.S. citizen. Unfortunately there are many veterans experience all kinds of problems... homelessness, mental illness, and much higher suicide rates. So many of those problems are spiritual in nature and we want to put resources in vet's hands. Please consider joining us in the outreach. https://basicgospel.net/vet

  • "so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 1:7-9 God is the one who keeps us blameless. It's not our effort. You've got fellowship with God right now. You're always connected and there's always hope.

He Cares for You

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Hope is a powerful motivator in our day-to-day lives. Without hope we dry up. But with hope it breathes life into each one of us. When we recognize the hope of the Gospel it brings true meaning into your life. 1 Peter 5:6-7 "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you."

  • Greg asks about Revelation 2 concerning what Jesus has against the churches. How can Jesus have something against the church if sins are forgiven?
  • Aaron is looking for an explanation of 1 John 3:20. "for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything."
  • Is it wrong to visit another church when I'm already committed to a church?
  • Why in Revelation 2 and 3 does Our Lord hammer incessantly about repenting off ways that are not in line with His Word?

Freedom and Transformation

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We need a lot of hope in this world today. Many are in desperate situations and need hope. Paul put it this way: "Since we have such a hope, we are very bold, not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze at the outcome of what was being brought to an end." 2 Corinthians 3:12 The Old Covenant condemned us. The New Covenant brings us hope.

  • I know God can heal. But he seems to be arbitrary can capricious. I wonder about the value of praying over someone.
  • If sin is clearly unbelief and I choose to believe, what must I regard as "sin" when we are told, for instance, to confess our "sins" one to another?

Simple Gospel, Simply Grace - Part 18

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

If we don't understand that our sins are forgiven, we will live in fear of punishment and fear of not being good enough to earn Gods love. It Is through the finished work of Christ Jesus, that we are able to move from fear to faith. Jesus' cry from the cross "It Is Finished" means that the sin issue has been settled and there is nothing more to be done. This is good news.

You Are a Child of God

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

What does hope mean to you and me? How does the hope of the Gospel lift us up? During this pandemic more than 50% of Americans have experienced depression. There are so many things that affect us at large and in person. "See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure." 1 John 3:1-3

Hope is the Anchor

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

Hope is only found in Jesus Christ and in the promise of God. Hope is our anchor and the power is what shapes our day to day lives. Our hope is steadfast and sure and far exceeds anything the world can provide.

Our Hope for Here and Now

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Everybody needs hope. When people call a counselor or seek help it's most often because they've lost hope. The three marks of every believer are faith, hope, and love. A life of hope based in faith and lived out in love. " Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead..." 1 Peter 1:3

Trust the God of Hope

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

This month we're going to be taking about hope. We all need a measure of hope to go through the trials and tribulations of this life. And that's where the New Covenant fits in.
