Simple Gospel, Simply Grace - Part 15

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Forgiveness is ours because of Jesus Christ's finished work at the cross. Forgiveness is the door to experience freedom in Christ, to actually flourish as a believer. There is lots of confusion about forgiveness causing Christians to continue to struggle with sin and guilt and to wonder if they are truly forgiven. Confusion on this fundamental truth hampers every other aspect of Christian life. Let's get clear about what the cross means to you. John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends."

What Makes Us Different

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

How do we go against the current. How do we stand out in the culture? One thing that really distinguishes us is the New Covenant. But for many the phrase New Covenant seems boring or theological. Why is the New Covenant so important to us today? It's the Gospel of grace that was fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

More Powerful Than Death

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

The lynchpin of the Gospel is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. No one has put off the perishable and put on the imperishable other than Jesus. That's what he did. Mary was the first witness to his resurrection. And his disciples soon after. Paul was arrested for his belief in the resurrection. "Why is it thought incredible by any of you that God raises the dead?" Acts 26:8

  • Will there be a trumpet sound to the hearing of everyone when Christ comes to rapture the church?

The Truth We Cherish

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We see a lot of people trying to blend the various philosophies of the world's religions with Christianity and create something palatable to everyone. But all they do is take away from the truth of Christianity. Paul wrote about this when addressing the Corinthians. "Therefore, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that 'an idol has no real existence,' and that 'there is no God but one.'" 1 Corinthians 8:4 That's the truth we cherish as believers.

Where Is Eternal Life?

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

A recent survey revealed that 52% of Christians accept a "works oriented" means to God's acceptance. It also found that 63% of adults fell some typ of religious faith is more important that which faith. The law is weak and useless to salvation. The only thing the law can do is condemn us and sentence us to death. So no one will be save in obedience to the law. God doesn't grade on the curve. Where is eternal life to be found?

You Are Complete

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

As believers in Christ we are complete in Christ. So many don't realize that and they continue to search for something new. "See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority." Colossians 2:8-10

The Word of Life

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Everybody has questions. And this month we're talking about some of the basics of the Christian faith. Paul wrote: " For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received..." We hold to these basics. They are our foundations. It's is the Word of God that points and directs us to Jesus Christ. The Bible is God's testimony concerning Jesus. When we look to Jesus and call his name we will receive the promise of his eternal life.

  • Are the benefits of grace applied to everyone? Is everyone forgiven?
  • What does "not counting their trespasses against them" mean in 2 Corinthians 5:19?
  • Does Hebrews 4:2 apply to Hebrews 10:26?

No Other Name

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We can't change the nature of the world. It is full of confusion and clutter. But we have something better. The hope of Jesus Christ. Unfortunately we see the church blending in to fit the world around them. Take a stand in this world and proclaim along with Peter: "And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

  • What advise do you have for someone starting to go out to evangelize?
  • Does it take time to get to know Jesus?
