Simple Gospel, Simply Grace - Part 11

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

The crossover is how we describe crossing over from spiritual death to spiritual life. When we come to Jesus we are severed from darkness and are free to live in the newness of life. As sinners, we were missing the mark of what God originally designed us to be. The desires of the flesh are contrary to the desires of God. Only in Jesus can we live out our purpose.

Two Unchangeable Things

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

Hebrews 6 gives us an anchor for our soul: "So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us." Hebrews 6:17, 18

  • Dale asks about the Nephillim. Where they angels? Did they have relations with women?
  • What is easy believism? Does it have anything to do with Lordship Salvation?
  • Does God call some people and not others, or is everyone called who has heard the gospel?
  • Does Revelation 22:18, 19 show that someone can lose their salvation?

The Bridge

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

In this crazy world we live in there's a lot of uncertainly and instability. However as believers we have a hope. Throughout the Scripture we read God's promises. But too often we see a trail of condemnation as we try to live up to the law. Only when we come to the grace of God poured out through Jesus Christ can we walk the trail of assurance in his finished work.

  • What does it mean to "do all things in moderation"? Is that in the Bible?
  • Why in Ephesians 17:26 is Paul still dealing with the sin issue if Christ finished his work on the cross?
  • Are all the promises to Israel fulfilled in the Body of Christ? Is the Church Israel?

God's Love for You

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

There's nothing as basic to the Gospel as the love of Jesus Christ demonstrated by his death on the cross. Paul put it this way, "God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 There are so many who claim to be a Christian but don't believe that Jesus is the only way to God. We need to take a stand upon the cross of Jesus Christ and recognize that it's a demonstration of God's love for us.

  • Are we living in the last days with everything that's happening now?
  • What do you think is the proper Christian response to issues like controversial movies and other media?
  • Can a person who once believed according to Romans 10:9-10, then truly denounce their salvation?

Simple Gospel, Simply Grace - Part 10

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Nineteen years ago, on 9/11, a woman called the broadcast asking about salvation. We were able to share the good news of Jesus Christ with her. She responded by faith and immediately went from death to life. We call that the crossover. When we come to Christ, we cross over from spiritual death to spiritual life. John 5:24 describes it this way: ""Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. ... They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life."

Love: An Act of Faith

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

When we look out there into the world we see those items Paul wrote that love is not, don't we. So what has to happen to flip the switch? What takes someone from the way of the world to the way of the love?

  • Steve asks about John 3:5 "Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God."
  • Brad calls to say "thank you" for teaching me about the love of God.
  • Can a person who once believed according to Romans 10:9-10, then truly denounce their salvation?

Love is an Action

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We find the definition of love in 1 Corinthians 13. Paul uses fifteen actions statements to tell us of God's love for us. We see seven positive statements and eight negative statements. Let's focus on vs. 6... "[Love] does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out."

Faith Manifest in Love

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We all yearn for the love of God and we do all we can to earn it. But the love of God isn't something we can earn. 1 John 3:1 "See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!" Let your faith be manifested in love.

  • Can you be mentally/emotionally divorced?
  • "Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:18 Our thankfulness is always a response to the grace of God.
  • Please explain James 4:1-3 "What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don't they come from the evil desires at war within you?..."

Believe in the One He Has Sent

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

A special Labor Day broadcast! The Word of God has a lot to say about work. Today we take a look at just a few passages that speak to work. The work of God is this - to believe in the One he has sent (John 6:29-30). Our work is simple faith in Jesus Christ. Paul had a labor of love to share the good news of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 2:8-9). He reminds us, "your labor in the Lord is not in vain." We are called to live by faith. As we do, we will see incredible things happen in and through our lives. We are God's workmanship and we have been created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:8-9). As we live by faith in Jesus, the work we are called to do, we will see good works flowing in and through us. Where do these good works take place? Only in church? Only on mission fields? No, it's in everyday life! As Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 3:22 "I saw that there was nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work." We hope you enjoy this special edition of Basic Gospel!
