Titus: Session 4

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Many have asked, "is the grace of God giving us a license to sin?" Today we're going to look at Titus 2:11-15 and we're going to look at something that's often overlooked in the teaching of grace. I've entitled this, "Trained by Grace". The grace of God appeared in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Therefore if we're going to know anything about the grace of God we will have to look at Jesus. Grace brings salvation and salvation is received through faith in Jesus.

Everything Subject to Jesus

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

With all the things going on in the world it seems like life is spinning out of control. As human beings we want control. We want to know what we do will be fruitful. Our lives are disrupted. Can we have peace in the midst of our circumstances? The Gospel of Jesus Christ answers that question. Hebrews states: "It has been testified somewhere, 'What is man, that you are mindful of him, or the son of man, that you care for him? ... Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. ...'" Hebrews 2:6-9

Unity in Diversity

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

We live in a crazy world with all kinds of divisions out there and it seems that those divisions are getting farther apart. You look in the New Testament and you see that the church at Corinth were having divisions as well. Paul writes to them: "I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment." Apart from the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, his death, burial and resurrection, the world will remain divided.

"So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: "Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious. For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription: 'To the unknown god.' What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you." Acts 17:22-26

Dignity For All

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

What we're seeing in the midst of all that's happening today is really the way of the world. James speaks to this in his letter: "My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, ... have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?" James 2:1-4

Love Must Speak

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, John Lynch

John Lynch joins the broadcast to discuss current events and how the Gospel gives us answers to all of life's troubles.

  • "For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility." Ephesians 2:14-16

By Grace Through Faith in Jesus Christ

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

Peter stood up and said to them, "Brothers, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. And God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them, by giving them the Holy Spirit just as he did to us, and he made no distinction between us and them, having cleansed their hearts by faith. ... But we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they will." Acts 15:7-11

New Heart - New Life

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

In any situation like this we always ask: "how do we fix this?" And we look to legislation, forgetting that this hatred flows from the heart. It comes from a belief system that leads to actions. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. There is no one righteous. Do you believe that each person has worth ... that we are all equal at the foot of the cross and are you willing to live that out?"

Called to The Tree of Life

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

When we look at the news and see what's going on it can be very scary. We don't know what to think. When Adam and Eve partook of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that brought evil into this world. There is this constant tension between good and evil. Paul wrote: "... For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. ..." 7:14-24 God has called us to the Tree of Life!
