Jesus is Faithful

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

During this situation we've been in for several months when we heard of the first case of the coronavirus I've been thinking about the story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal. "How long will you go limping between two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him" 1 Kings 18:21 They were sitting on the fence, unstable in all their ways. Limping will not get you through tough situations. Have the courage to entrust yourself to Jesus Christ in the midst of all situations.

Be Strong in the Lord

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

Many of the shelter-in-place orders will be lifted today and while there will be a lot of caution moving forward, I wanted to remind us of this passage: "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might." Ephesians 6:10 We're built to be dependent upon Christ and to look to him for every once of our thinking, talking, and responding to others. How then shall we live?

He'll Get You Through

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Why does God allow suffering in the world today? That's one of those age-old questions. We all suffer to one degree or another so it's natural to ask why. "Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin" 1 Peter 4:1

Nothing Can Separate You

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We all need to be convinced of this truth that Paul shares in Romans 8:35-39. "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? ... I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

  • God works all things together for our good. Paul writes: "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? ..." Romans 8:31-35

God Intercedes for You

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Most of know the promise of Romans 8:28. But it's something we need to hear again and again. God is at work on our behalf. "Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes ... And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:26-28 God intercedes for us and is at work in our situations to work them together for good.

Living in Victory

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

One of the interesting things about this coronavirus is what it's teaching us about the law. You hear, "don't touch your face", and it instantly puts your focus on touching your face. The Scripture says, "the power of sin is in the law". Yesterday we looked at the anchor for our soul in Hebrews 6 and Paul writes about this in Romans chapter 8. "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us." Romans 8:18

The Perfect Promise Keeper

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

In Hebrews 6:13 it starts out, "For when God made a promise..." God has made a promise to us and it fills us with hope. "by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us."

Sons of God

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

As we come to the point where we say, "Yes. I believe." we receive a brand new life and a brand new identity. And we can rest assured that nothing can separate us from the love of God. "For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God." Romans 8:14 Our new realm of life is in the spirit, let by the Spirit of God.

Life and Peace

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

God's patience towards us meant salvation for us. This is an aspect of love. Love in patient. "...but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. ... You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, ... if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness." Romans 8:6-10
