The Great "I Am": The Bread of Life

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

1 Corinthians 8:6 states there is just one God, manifested through the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We exist through God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son and experience it through the Holy Spirit. Jesus made seven I AM claims about himself. The first is "I AM the bread of life". Our hunger is satisfied and our thirst is quenched through Jesus Christ.

One Way

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Many believe they're saved by grace through faith. But once they enter that doorway they try to live their Christian life by their own efforts. The truth is there is one way to salvation and one way to live: by grace through faith in Jesus. "Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." Colossians 2:6-7

Pray for Your Leaders

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

In this second day of the impeachment trial it's good to be reminded as Christians that we have the opportunity and are called to pray for our leaders. Paul encourages Timothy: "First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way." 1 Timothy 2:1-3

Seated in God's Grace

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

At the beginning of the year we talked about resolutions of grace. The first was to: Find your place of rest in Christ. The second was: Grow in grace and the knowledge of Jesus Christ. "By Silvanus, a faithful brother as I regard him, I have written briefly to you, exhorting and declaring that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it." 1 Peter 5:12 God's grace is all over your life. You are planted in the soil of God's grace.

Life Plus Forgiveness

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

It's MLK Day today - the day we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr's life and legacy. For any of us to engage in what MLK Jr. was fighting for we have to come to Jesus first so we can see each other from God's perspective. As I wrote in Simple Gospel, Simply Grace, "Life plus forgiveness equals freedom." And Paul stated, "From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer." 2 Corinthians 5:16

The Great "I Am": Jesus's Name

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

When we're talking about "The Great 'I am'" we're talking about Jesus. He has everything we need to meet our needs. Moses asked God... "If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' what shall I say to them?" God said to Moses, "I am who I am." Exodus 3:13-15

His Spirit in You

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

If you believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, that he died for your sins and was raised to life - if you've received him by faith... you can know that you have his Spirit within you.

Forgiveness and Life

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Just as Christ was raised from the dead we have been raised from the dead when we came to Christ. There was only one way for God to make us alive - and that was to deal with the sin issue. When you and I came into the world we were spiritually dead. The two sides of the coin of salvation are forgiveness and life. "And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross." Colossians 2:13-14

  • Does the Jewish peoples rejection of Christ have a bearing on them as a people?
  • How are those who never hear the name of Jesus held accountable for their sins? How are they saved?
  • I cannot help but feel I may not be doing enough as a Christian. Can you give your insight on this?

Hope Through Jesus Christ

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

I was thinking today how I received Christ at 12 years old. But for the next 8 years I really struggled. The two questions that haunted to me were "how do I stop sinning?" and "what do I do when I sin?".
