The Christmas Story - Luke

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

The Christmas Story, Part 2. From the announcement to Mary through the story of Christ's birth, Luke provides rich detail and powerful truth of the Christmas story. The angel's pronouncement of the virgin birth is a thrilling pronouncement of Jesus Christ and his kingdom. It is worth noting that Mary, while naturally frightened and confused, accepted by faith the fact that she would bear the Son of God. In scripture, when God intervenes in an individuals life it is always to bring favor and show His grace. It is the same for you and me today. You have found favor with God.

And You Shall Name Him Jesus

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

"And you shall name him Jesus." These were the words from the angel to Joseph. And this had great meaning. The Hebrew word for Jesus means the Lord's salvation. "To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name." Acts 10:43 That's the good news. When you confess with your mouth and believe with your heart you receive Jesus. And when you receive Jesus you receive forgiveness of sin.

Fear Not

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Christmas is fast approaching when we celebrate Jesus' birth. The message that the angles gave was "Fear not." We are naturally fearful. And we see that from the very beginning when Adam and Eve sinned. They afraid. But the message of Christmas is "Fear Not". Why? Because we now know the love of God. "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because he first loved us." 1 John 4:18-19

Hope

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

There are so many that are looking for hope in this world today. And that's what the Gospel message bring us - hope. The World of God is filled with statements of hope. "We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel" Colossians 1:3-5

The "Why" of Christmas

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

This month we'll be focusing on Jesus and the Christmas story. So many know parts of the story, but too many still don't know the "why" of the story. John spells out the "why" in his Gospel. "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. ... grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." John 1:14-18
