Who Are You?

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Hebrews 11 is a great cloud of witnesses to encourage us in our walk of faith. Before we came to faith in Christ we were connected to the world. We were sinners. But when we came to Christ by faith we became new creations and were given a new identity. Because you've been born again of the Spirit of God, you now belong to God and you are now a child of God.

  • Is there a point of sin where God won't take me back?
  • Do we receive a different "portion" of Heaven according to how we exactly lived this life?
  • Why would we ask God to not lead us to temptation?
  • Will our loved ones who gone before us, be able to see us from Heaven and if so will they be sad about our sins?
  • Will there be marital relations in Heaven?

Overcoming

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

How do we overcome the troubles in this world? How do we live out who we are in Christ? "By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward. Hebrews 11:24-26

  • A question concerning Luke 5:37-39 concerning new wine and old wine skins comes in from Clay.
  • Are there special types of prayer?
  • I have a question, do I have repent from my sins to be saved or I m saved already if I believe in Jesus?

Tested by Fire

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We encounter all kinds of trials and tribulations because we live in a world that is anti-God. Jesus entered into the darkness of the world and placed us into his kingdom. And as believers today we are ambassadors for this his kingdom. God sustains us by his power. "In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire... " 1 Peter 1:6-9

  • Why did Jesus make so much wine? Wouldn't that make everyone drunk?
  • Mike asks about Matthew 8:20 "And Jesus said to him, 'Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.'"
  • My question has to do with what is called "the third use of the law". What exactly is it?

You Abide Forever

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We don't live in a friendly world. It doesn't want us to live on God's side, but on the world's side. We can't change the world. But we have been changed. Our life is now in Christ. "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever." 2 John 2:15-17

  • I'm homeless and hopeless. I don't feel peace with God. What can I do?
  • How do we consider those who believe in Jesus, but don't believe that he is God?
  • Are communion and water baptism still relevant under the New Covenant?

The Top Ten: Colossians 2:9-15

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

For the next 10 weeks, Bob Christopher will share his most favorite passages. These passages have shown him the true nature of God. Today we talk about Colossians 2:9-15. God used this passage to show Bob the fullness of His grace. As a recent college graduate, Bob realized that his human effort to be God's Guy only served to make him doubt his faith and his purpose Everything changed when he gained an understanding of this passage.

We Have Peace with God

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We are encouraged to stand firm in the world today. "Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 5:1 This is a foundational truth. Because you have been justified by faith you have peace with God. And in this "we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope..." Romans 5:3,4

9/11 - We Remember

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

18 years ago our world changed as terrorists flew planes into the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon and, thanks to the bravery of the passengers, into a field in Pennsylvania. We remember where we were as the country stood in shock and shared the pain of 3,000 fellow citizens who lost their lives that day. In the midst of the evil in this world, it is more important than every that we share the hope that only Jesus Christ provides.

  • I've been married and divorced. I've said the sinner's prayer. Am I truly saved?
  • How can I share the truth of the Gospel with my friend who is a Jehovah's Witness?
  • I was reading the Bible regularly, but have stopped for 4 weeks. I've prayed in Jesus' name for help, but just can't do it because of a vague fear I have of the truth. Any suggestions?

Stand Firm

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Anyone who's been called to live a righteous life will be persecuted for it. But we've been equipped for it. Paul wrote this to Timothy: "For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control." 2 Timothy 1:6, 7 We can trust the God that lives in us to hand the adversity that comes to us.

  • How do we forgive ourselves for past sins and how do we live with consequences of those sins?
  • Why would a God of love allow someone's fiancée to be trafficked?
  • If God fulfills us, why marry?
  • If we were given perfect hearts and were completely fulfilled by our relationship with God, why weren't Adam and Eve satisfied?
  • Are paintings or movies of Jesus a form of idolatry?
