Power of 8: Hope

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Faith, hope and love are the distinguishing marks of Christianity. We walk by faith, are anchored by hope, and our faith is manifested in love. Hope is defined as the desire of some good with the expectation of obtaining it. Hope is not wishful thinking; it is confident assurance. Hope is eternally tied to Jesus Christ and the New Covenant he ushered in.

In His Favor

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

"Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:1, 2 We have obtained peace with God. We are standing in the grace of God. What does that mean? We are always in His favor. And because his Spirit will always be in us we will always be in His favor.

Righteousness Apart from the Law

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

All of us want to right in the sight of others and we want to be right before God. How do we do that? How can we stand before God as a righteous person? All have sinned. All have missed the mark. But Paul writes about a righteousness apart from the law. "But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it—the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe." Romans 3:21, 22

He Will Surely Do It

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Our job is to simply trust in Christ for we have a great promise found in 1 Thessalonians 5:23, 24 "Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it." It's grace in the beginning. Grace in the middle. And grace in the end. Once the grace of God takes hold in your life, it never stops.

Christ Formed in You

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We've seen several high-profile Christians denounce their faith in the last few weeks. Why does this happen? So often we look at Christianity as a self-improvement course or get caught up in what "I need to do for God". They never got fully rooted into Christ Jesus. This is why we spend the time we do talking about the grace of God, the New Covenant, the resurrection, your identify in Christ ... and so much more. "... my little children, for whom I am again in the anguish of childbirth until Christ is formed in you!" Galatians 4:19

Power of 8: Faith, Hope and Love

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

If you're looking for victory in life, it comes through being empowered by the very Spirit of God. This Spirit led life gives us full knowledge of God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son. The life we live now is lived by faith, anchored by hope and expressed by love. When we come to Christ we are identified with Him in His death, burial and resurrection and raised to walk in the newness of life. Walking by faith is trust, rely and depend on Jesus in all things.

Grace Justifies You Freely

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We can't earn salvation. It's not a works based program. We see this in Romans 4 where Paul spells it out that the righteous will live by faith. And to that faith in imparted righteousness. Do you want to be right with God? Do you want to know that all is right between you and your creator? Christ dealt with your sins and took them away, giving you the very righteousness of Christ. Grace justifies you freely because of the work of Jesus Christ

His Grace is Sufficient

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

How do we get through the tough times in life? It gets back to this word "grace". In 2 Corinthians Paul wrote, "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me." In our weakness, God's strength is made perfect.

By God's Grace

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Paul writes about the Gospel that saves in 1 Corinthians 15 "Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, ... " He declares the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Paul's encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus changed his identity and totally transformed him by the grace of God. "But by the grace of God I am what I am " v. 10

Words of Grace

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Let these words of grace work there way into your heart. "All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure." Ephesians 1:3-5 NLT I encourage you to read the first chapter today.
