What does it mean to live out the Christian life in this world? The world is constantly trying to conform us to itself. But we are to be conformed to Christ. When you and I were saved, we were born-again of the spirit. We've been made fully alive in Christ. "Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. You have died to the law and there is only one way to serve God.

The story of Jesus is the death, burial, resurrection and ascension. The resurrection of Christ Jesus is where we experience new life. In the book of Romans 1:3-4 Paul makes a point to mark the resurrection as God's stamp of approval that what Jesus claimed about himself was true. But the resurrection is so much more than just an apologetic; it is the power of the Gospel.

A special Independence Day broadcast from Basic Gospel. — I love the 4th of July. It's a wonderful experience for us as Americans that enjoy this freedom everyday. But on a much deeper level there are many who are looking for freedom in their souls. In John 8:31, Jesus tells us if we hold to his teachings, we will be his disciples. When we hold to his teachings, we will know the truth, and that truth will set us free. Freedom is what Christ has in mind for each and every one of us. This freedom can only come through Jesus Christ. When we come into this freedom, we shouldn't use it to serve ourselves, but use our freedom to serve one another in love. Are you in bondage to sin? Would you like to be free from that bondage today? Accept Jesus' words as true, know that He is our savior, and you will be set free from the bondage of sin.

Life and forgiveness added together is freedom. And God has called us to freedom. And that's what Christ has accomplished through his death, burial and resurrection. He has set us free from sin and death. Real freedom is found in Christ and Christ alone. We're all looking for freedom. But the freedoms of this world can all be taken away. The only freedom we can be sure of is that which is found in Jesus Christ. "He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." Colossians 1:13,14

This month is when Americans celebrate the freedom we enjoy. It's also a wonderful time to look at the freedom we have in Christ. God, in his great mercy, sets us free through belief in Jesus Christ. As the John 8:36 says, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." Once you experience freedom, there is no way to go back to bondage.

The cross of Jesus Christ is where the New Covenant began. Jesus dealt with sin once and for all at the cross. We need to truly understand that the wages of sin is death. God's purpose for us is to move us from the penalty of sin and make us alive in Christ. Unbelief in Jesus is death. Jesus took away the sin of the world so that he can give us life. That's good news!
