Called to Freedom

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

One of the most powerful implications of the resurrection is freedom. Through Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection we've been set free to serve others in love and can experience the joy of being restored to our true nature. "For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another." Galatians 5:13

Twisted Scripture - Andrew Farley

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

We talk to Andrew Farley today about his latest book, Twisted Scripture. In Twisted Scripture, Andrew skewers sacred cows and shatters destructive lies, bringing the undiluted truth about God's love and grace in a colorful and conversational look at the most controversial passages in the New Testament. This book offers more than just encouragement and freedom. It may change everything about the way you see yourself and God.

His Great Promises

Richard Peifer, Bob Davis

What is the advantage to us of Jesus' resurrection? We've been given everything we need for life and godliness. "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire." 2 Peter 1:3,4

A Living Hope

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." 1 Peter 1:3-5 The Gospel brings hope. We have living hope in Jesus Christ as a result of his resurrection.

  • What is your take on pre, mid, or post tribulation? Are there two resurrections? One for believers who have died and one for believers who are still alive?
  • Why do so many fail to find the sufficiency in Christ alone and insist on adding to it (like those who insist we follow Torah)?
  • Do we have the mind of Christ when we accept Christ?
  • I know we who have received the life of Christ will never lose this life, so is James 1:15 a general statement about the effect sin had on the entire human race?

Peace With God

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

If you ask people what they would really like often you hear that they simply want peace. And the good news is that we have a message of peace in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. "Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 5:1

  • Since we're reconciled to God by Jesus's death and resurrection, what was the point of his teaching?
  • I have some people trying to steal my peace and assurance of salvation because I don't wear a head covering. 1 Corinthians 11:6

Testify to His Love

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The resurrection has implications for us here and now. We've been ushered into a relationship with the Father through Jesus Christ. We come to learn that God is love. For God so loved the world that he sent his son. He demonstrated his love to me. And because of that we can share the knowledge of God's love with others.

A Righteousness by Faith

Richard Peifer, Bob Davis

What is the practical ramification of the resurrection? Why is this so important. Paul describes it this way: "Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ ..." Philippians 3:8-11 If you want to have eternal life the only way to do that is to know God. And because Jesus dealt with death once for all, we can do that.

  • In Exodus 20 verse 7 it says "thou shalt not take your lord's name in vain". So, if you say "oh my God" is that taking his name in vain?
  • Could you please explain Acts 19:1-7? It seems to indicate that receiving the Holy Spirit is a separate event from believing, and requires the laying on of hands.
  • Who are the seraphim and how many are there? Has evidence of them been found?
  • Ray asks for clarification on using the Lord's name repetitively.
  • Mary Jo is struggling with "giving thanks in all things".

A Life of Faith in Jesus

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Last month we celebrated Easter - the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. How does the resurrection impact how we live as believers in Christ? The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is now in us. Paul wrote about this throughout his letters. In Galatians 2:19-21 "For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. ..."

  • Can you please explain Matthew 5:19?

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Richard continues with his story from the legalism of religion to the freedom and liberty of God's grace. During this transition Richard found himself angry with himself and his religion. Over a decade later, an encounter with friends introduced him to the Holy Spirit in him and life changed! At one of our ministry conferences, everything fell into place and set Richard on the path to truth.
