In 2 Corinthians 3 Paul really lays out this New Covenant. Paul was out to deliver the message of new life. And he writes about the contrasts between the old and the new. "But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away. Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts." vs. 12-16

Ephesians 2:1-3 is a passage of contrast. Once you come to Christ, you are to put off (renounce) the old man. In other words, to count yourself dead to sin, which was your former way of life. Instead, you put on (display) the new you which was created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

Do you still listen to cassette tapes? No, cassettes have been replaced by something better. It's the same with the Old and New Covenants. Hebrews 8:13 says "By calling this covenant "new," he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear." We no longer are under the requirements of the Old Covenant but are free to live in the New Covenant which is better in every way.

This New Covenant is for you and me. It's where we live today. Too often we try to mix the old and new and make a mess of it and us. Hebrews 8:7 reads, "For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion to look for a second." There was nothing wrong with the law, but "[God] finds fault with [the people] when he says Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will establish a new covenant..." Hebrews 8:8,9

• How do I get across to someone the need for salvation and forgiveness for sins?

Who was the Old Covenant given to? So often we think it's for everyone. But when you read it you find that it was specifically for Israel. God gave it to them when he rescued them from Eqypt. But this covenant with Israel did not supersede the covenant with Abraham. The promise for all nations to be blessed through Abraham was still in effect. Moses was a servant not a son.

• What are your thoughts on levels of Hell based on the judgment seat?
• What is faith? I pray and have faith that God will heal people. But I have prayed for 20 years for a cure to my MS and I still have it. Now I question my faith.
• What does John 3:8 mean? "The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."

What does God do when he shows up in someone's life? He does the unexpected. He shows up in Abraham's life and brings blessings and promises. And we receive the blessings and promises through Jesus Christ who has fulfilled them. We read that in Galatians 3 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree"— so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith. Gal 3:13,14
