Today we commemorate one of the great unifiers in American history, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He delivered a sermon titled: "Paul's Letter to American Churches" in which Dr. Martin said, "In the midst of man's tragic sin stands God's amazing grace!" What is the solution to relating to others in this world today? There is only one thing powerful enough to destroy the wall between people and that is the grace of God.

Contained in the Word of God is the story of Jesus which makes us wise unto salvation. Paul and Peter are consistent in writing about the Word of God. "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15

• Are we favored by God before we were saved?

Hebrews 4:12 describes the Bible this way: "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." When you read the Word of God you will see it doing its work in your life.

So many are confused when they open the Bible they end up simply putting in the shelf for another day. But when we understand that the Bible is about God's testimony concerning His son we can read it with greater insight. Through reading and studying we will learn what the life of Jesus Christ means to each one of us. "Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully ..." 1 Peter 1:10:12

Why do you read the Bible? What do you hope to gain from your reading? "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16 God is calling us to live out our identity in Jesus Christ allowing his life to be lived out through us. What is a good work? It is a work that flows from abiding in Christ.

• Is his name really Jesus?
• Was the Garden of Eden like Heaven before sin entered into the world?
• How do I respond to those who recognize God but not Jesus?
• I am doubting my faith. I know you can't lose faith but can you give me some encouragement on that?
