In Christ We are Free

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

Today is Veterans Day and we celebrate today as we thank each veteran for their service. In Christ we are free and as we allow the Holy Spirit to teach us we can live the abundant life we have in Christ.

  • Please 1 John 2:18 and 3:6 concerning being in and out of fellowship.
  • Wouldn't the lack of Pharisaical writings against Jesus' miracles be proof of the miracles?
  • I believe as you do that our salvation is perfect - once and for eternity - but struggle with Hebrews 6:4-6. Any help reconciling "impossible to renew them to repentance".

Is Salvation Forever?

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Since Jesus Christ is alive, when we come to Him by faith, He comes to live in us. In marriage between believers Christ is in each one of you and provides unity in your marriage through Him. Today I want to challenge each of you who are married to thank God for your spouse. As you start saying "thank you" for the person God brought into your life... you will have a marriage that is strengthened in the Lord. Your marriage is a reflection of the relationship Jesus has with the church.

  • I'm confused about salvation. Some pastors say you can lose your salvation others say you can't. Can you show me the Scriptures that explain salvation?
  • Is there an age of accountability? If my child accepts Christ as a young child, will he/she miss out on a life-changing conversion experience?
  • Alicia struggles with anxiety over the Lord returning soon and wonders if they will be with her in Heaven.
  • Brad shares his heart concerning marriage.

A Profound Mystery

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Ephesians 5:32, 33 talks about marriage. "This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband." We can actually have our marriages be witnesses of the Gospel.

  • How do I know which works we should be using?
  • Clay calls to share his thankfulness his wife and how much being a Christian means to his marriage.
  • Does Romans 8:28 apply to believers only? What about the unbelievers when they face difficulty, are they alone to work things out?

Our New High Priest - Lesson 6

Bob Christopher, Richard Peifer

This week we look at claims others made about Jesus. John the Baptist made the bold claim that Jesus is God. The disciples fully believed he was God; even though they didn't fully understand why that was so important. Jesus asked them "Who do you say I am?" and He asks the same question of us. We also learn about the superiority of Jesus and that He was both fully God and fully man. In every way, Jesus is superior. He is our high priest forever. Because He lives forever, he is able to save completely those who come to God through him. Talk about some good news and an unshakable guarantee! Rest in the truth of who Jesus is and join us next time for more New Covenant study!

Contentment - The Path to Thanksgiving

Bob Christopher, Richard Peifer

"Through him let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise." That is the only sacrifice we can truly make in this New Covenant. Genuine thankfulness flows from contentment and real contentment is found in Christ. One aspect of contentment is the word "telos". We find it first in Matthew 5:48 "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect." When we read Hebrews 10 you read about being made perfect. We've been delivered to the end goal and can experience contentment in Christ.

  • Can you explain John 15:2? "He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful."

  • Is it OK to practice Yoga and acupuncture?
  • Is physical healing included in Jesus' finished work?

A Sacrifice of Praise

Bob Christopher, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

Yesterday I introduced a verse: Hebrews 13:15, 16 "Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." In this New Covenant there's only one sacrifice we're to make and that's a sacrifice of praise. It's not ceremonial food or other sacrifices, but a matter of true thankfulness.

A Thankful Heart

Bob Christopher

We received an email recently from Tom. "I prayed with your recently on radio. And I want to thank you for your program. I listen and learn everyday and thank you from my heart." As we move into this Thanksgiving season I want to talk to you about the importance of giving thanks. Through Jesus Christ we continually offer up a heart of gratitude. This spirit of thankfulness is a matter of heart and when it's truly expressed we know that faith is growing in us.

  • Kurt calls to talk about the assurance of our salvation found in the complete work of Jesus Christ.
  • We've been given a new heart. A heart of flesh. The new has come and the old is gone.
  • Does sanctification start after we're born again?

The One Who Overcame Sin

Bob Christopher, Richard Peifer

In this world we're always looking for hope. Any piece of information that offers hope, we grab hold of. But many times it's a false hope. We have hope in Christ. If we're struggling with something we need to depend upon the one who overcame sin. God has proven Himself to be faithful and you can trust Him.

Our New High Priest - Lesson 5

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

In this session, we begin Chapter 3: Our New High Priest - the Guarantee of the Will. We explore evidence that gives us assurance that the New Covenant is guaranteed by Christ himself. Many have tried to debunk the story of Jesus; however, the Word of God makes sure that we know He existed. We see historical evidence in the eyewitness accounts of Joseph and Mary, when He was born (based on Roman history), the fact that he had brothers and sisters, and when He died based on evidence of Pontius Pilate's reign. All the key places, events and people in the Jesus 'story' have historical support. Therefore, His humanity is not in question. We also take a look at the incredible claims Jesus made about Himself. For each claim that He made about Himself, you can find benefit in your life - sustenance, light, peace, safety, assurance of salvation, eternal life, and rest. Be assured as never before that Jesus is real and that He is exactly who He claimed to be!

Crucified with Christ

Richard Peifer, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

Why does the Gospel matter to me right now? Galatians 2:20 reads, "For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!" So how does this happen? By the Gospel. Because of the Gospel I live by faith in the Son of God.
